Jane Rachel Kaplan, Ph.D., M.P.H. is a psychologist and has been
working in the area of food and eating since 1977 – over 25 years. She has
worked with those with severe eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia
and has also helped those with overeating and weight management issues.
Having a healthy
relationship with food and body is what Optimal Eating is all
about. Food and eating can be a pleasure and body image can be strong and
healthy. To help people reach these goals, Dr. Kaplan conducts many kinds
of therapy and education, including individual therapy, group therapy,
family therapy, consultation and educational workshops.

She also teaches
therapists, physicians, nutritionists and other health care professionals
and educators about eating disorders. She consults to organizations on
training and prevention projects in the area of eating issues. She is also
an author of two books; her informative

Dr. Kaplan received her
Ph.D. in 1975 from the California School of Professional Psychology in San
Diego, and her M.P.H. (Masters in Public Health) from the University of
California at Berkeley in 1980. She developed and directed a weight
management program for Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, California
and has been involved with other program planning and development
projects. Her commitment is to provide excellent clinical, consultation
and educational services as well as to write and produce innovative
materials. Her goal is to help people heal from food and eating problems.
